from Compositions by Clare Sands
This was a tune that was written with Steve Cooney as part of my project ‘Tírdhreacha agus Fuaimdhreacha’ where I created four new pieces of music with four different musicians, across four provinces, over four seasons. We had a week to write, record, produce and film our creation, and this tune and later song is the result of our Spring/Ulster collaboration. Initially it was a reel – but Steve encouraged me to get the slip-jig feel. Aren’t they such an underrated tune type? More groove and longer ‘to come around’ compared to a standard 6/8 jig. The translation is ‘Tell Me your Secrets’ and it’s an ode to spring and all the traditions and secrets that she holds.
