from Compositions by Elaine Hogan
Corcomroe Abbey is situated near Bellharbour in Co. Clare. I have had occasion to play here and it is a magical place to perform. It was founded by Cistercian monks around 1195, the chords at the start of the piece are intended to mimic a bell calling the monks to prayer. Ideally written for the wire-strung harp (which I don’t play but love!), which is played with the fingernails.
