Sophie grew up in a musical family and from a young age, was influenced by the music of her grandfather, Seán Ryan, Tipperary fiddler and composer. She is a recent graduate of University College Cork where she studied Music and Gaeilge.
Last year, Sophie was appointed as a Rights and Public Access Officer, to work on ITMA’s rights clearance and permissions work. ITMA — Rights and Public Access at ITMA. Since April 2024, Sophie has been working as Administrative Assistant, assisting with programming, reporting, budgeting and managing ITMA’s artistic and archival projects.
In 2023, Sophie was invited to perform in The Philippines and Hong Kong for the Irish Embassy and Consulate for St. Patrick’s Day and has performed on Ireland’s leading live music series, ‘Other Voices’.
