The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
Elaine Hogan hails from Ennis in Co. Clare and has been involved in music for most of her life. Having grown up studying classical piano and violin, it is in the Irish traditional music world where she feels most at home.
The harp came into her life in primary school where her teacher Eithne Ní Dhonaile inspired her to try it and the seeds were sown.
Her music has taken her all over the world including Australia, New Zealand , America and many parts of Europe. She went on to obtain her Masters degree from the World Irish academy of Music and dance in Limerick and is a much sought after accompanist.
Elaine has featured as a guest musician on many albums such as John Dwyer’s “The Dursey Sound” as well as releasing her own album “The Shores of Lough Breda” in 2015 with Clare fiddle player Sheila Garry. This album featured the compositions of flute player Paddy O’Donoghue and they were joined by his late son Cyril on bouzouki. `
Elaine also released her solo album “In Three Minds” in late 2019, as well as a quartet album with other noted Clare musicians Pádraig Rynne, Tara Breen and Conor Crimmins called “Avalla”.
Elaine also performs extensively for weddings and gets to collaborate with singers and musicians to explore other genres of music. This also enables her to continue to work locally and give time to other projects and collaborations.
