The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
Daniel is a musician, composer, and producer from Youghal in County Cork. Having grown up with a traditional Irish music background and learning multiple instruments at the local Comhaltas, Daniel went on to get a BA in music from UCC before pursuing an MA in music at UL. Daniel began composing in his early teens with many of his earlier compositions rooted solely in Irish traditional music. However, over the years Daniel began to blend Irish traditional music with traditional music from other countries, as well as genres such as jazz, electronic dance, pop, and classical.
After graduating from the Irish World Academy in 2022, Daniel moved to Los Angeles to learn about composing for motion picture and interned with a music composer who scored for Netflix. This experience was very influential and has broadened Daniel’s compositional palette. Now working as a music & English teacher in China, Daniel has plans to learn more about Chinese traditional music and incorporate elements of it in future compositions.
