The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. ITMA understands ‘Irish traditional music’ as a broad term which encompasses oral-tradition song, instrumental music and dance of many kinds and periods.
It interprets the term in the widest possible sense, and always tries to include rather than exclude material.
That same inclusiveness underpins the ethics of the organisation.
ITMA provides its services to everyone, including the wider traditional music community, a community that crosses borders, ages, genders, religions and races.
Everything ITMA does will be able to stand the test of scrutiny by members of the public, the media, members, beneficiaries, stakeholders and the regulatory authorities.
ITMA will strive to promote an atmosphere of openness throughout the organisation in order to promote confidence to members of the public, staff, beneficiaries and regulators.
ITMA respects the ownership and copyright of material in its collection, as documented in the Donor Charter.
ITMA provides a safe, welcoming environment for staff and is committed to aiding each staff member reach their full potential, as documented in the Employee Handbook.

It has signed up to the Charities Governance Code, the minimum standards to be met for compliance with the Charities Regulatory Authority. It has also signed up to the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations Fundraising from the Public.
