The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
ITMA is delighted to announce the hiring of Sophie Ryan and Bridie Flaherty for the new roles of Administrative Assistant and Secretary. These positions have been funded by the Heritage Council of Ireland through their Capacity Fund 2024, for which ITMA is very grateful.
Originally from Laois, Sophie obtained her Bachelor of Music from University College Cork in 2023. From August-December 2023, Sophie was part of ITMA’s Rights and Public Access project, working as a rights and clearance officer. A talented harpist, Sophie was president of the UCC Trad Society in 2022.
Originally from Peoria, Illinois, USA, Bridie completed her MA in Irish Folklore and Ethnology at UCD in 2023. Prior to ITMA, Bridie worked at the National Museum of Ireland and EPIC Emigration Museum in Dublin. Bridie has danced since she was four years old, stepping it out at festivals from Chicago, USA to as far as Sitges, Spain. If she’s not at ITMA, you’ll likely find her set dancing at céilíthe around the country.
