    The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance.     Make your donation go further: a donation of €250 or more in any tax year is worth an additional 44.93% to ITMA. So for €50 more, ITMA can claim an additional €112.33 tax back from revenue.

    Irish-based donors can see their donations augmented by the State through the CHY3 form, which makes any donation above €250 worth €362.33 towards ITMA’s archival work, at no additional cost to you.

    ITMA is eligible for 501(c)3 donations, so for potential donors based in the USA, donating to ITMA can be a tax efficient way of making more and more archival material accessible to remote users.

    Seán Chon Johnny Byrne (1948-2023): Music and Conversation

    Seán Chon Johnny Byrne (1948-2023) was a renowned guitar player and singer from Teelin, Co. Donegal.

    For over 50 years, he performed with local Donegal musicians such as James Byrne, Con Cassidy, Dermot Byrne and John Doherty. Seán Chon Johnny’s openness and ability to play both traditional and rock n’roll music appealed to all age groups in South West Donegal. He passed away on the 22nd April 2023, aged 75.
