The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. ITMA are committed to sustainable environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. ITMA takes these responsibilities seriously and strives to ensure that all operations are conducted in a safe, equitable, and responsible manner. It has a range of policies across these areas, all of which are aligned to those of its funders, namely the Arts Council, the OPW and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.
ITMA are members of The Green Arts Initiative, which aims to provide Irish arts organisations with the resources and support to help build a green Irish arts community. (www.greenarts.ie)
ITMA recognises the threat of climate change and acknowledges that every individual and organisation must play their part in trying to mitigate the damage that their actions cause.
ITMA have a Green Team of staff and Board members, led by Maeve Gebruers ([email protected]), the nominated Sustainability Champion.
ITMA have a Climate Action Plan that details positive actions that ITMA can take to implement this reduction, and a report on progress is given at each Board meeting.
The traditional music community are at the heart of what ITMA does, and this community is broad and diverse.
The Ethical Values of ITMA underpin all interactions with this community, at every level. The values are publicly available on our website and are included in induction processes for both Board and staff members.
ITMA have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy that underpins all aspects of ITMA’s work. ITMA Librarian, Róisín Conlon ([email protected]), has responsibility for EDI within ITMA, and reports regularly to the Board on progress.
ITMA is in compliance with the Charities Regulatory Authority’s Governance Code. An overview of ITMA’s governance is available on the governance section of the ITMA website. Board meetings are held every two months. ITMA’s Governance Officer is Treasa Harkin ([email protected])
Responsibility for implementation of this policy lies with the ESG committee of the ITMA Board. A report from this committee is given at each Board meeting, and the committee works with the named staff members above to monitor progress in each area.
